Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe – A Trail-Ready Plug-In Hybrid SUV

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of the popular midsize SUV, the Jeep Grand Cherokee.  It was introduced for the 2021 model year and represents Jeep’s foray into electrification, combining the brand’s legendary off-road capability with modern electric technology.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe features a complex powertrain that consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. The combined system output is 375 horsepower and 470lb-ft of torque. It comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system.

With an all-electric range of up to 25 miles, the Grand Cherokee 4xe allows for short commutes or local driving without using any gasoline. This makes it ideal for daily errands and short trips, while also providing the flexibility of a conventional gasoline engine for longer drives.

Charging consists of using a standard household outlet or a Level 2 charging station. It takes approximately 12 hours to fully charge using a standard outlet, while a Level 2 charging station can charge it in about 2 hours.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe retains the legendary off-road capability that Jeep is known for. It comes with the Selec-Terrain traction management system, which allows the driver to select different modes for various driving conditions, such as snow, sand, mud and rock. It also features a Quadra-Lift air suspension system that provides adjustable ride height for improved ground clearance when off-roading.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe offers a comfortable and well-equipped interior with seating for up to five passengers. It comes with a variety of standard and available features, including an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a rearview camera, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a power liftgate.

There are a host of standard and available safety features, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and parking sensors. It also has a full complement of airbags and a rigid body structure for enhanced crash protection.

Overall, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe offers a compelling option for those looking for a versatile and capable SUV with the added benefits of electric driving. It provides the iconic Jeep off-road capability, combined with the efficiency and environmental friendliness of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, making it a unique choice in the midsize SUV segment.
